Musicians for Peace and Disarmament will present a concert given by the distinguished soprano Dame Emma Kirkby and her ensemble ‘Dowland Works.’  The programme is focused on brief and intimate pieces from 1600-1700, that special century for British music that began with John Dowland, ended with Henry Purcell and witnessed the horrors of the Civil War.  Dame Emma writes: “Inevitably there are themes of sorrow, as death and exile haunted many lives, but also of joy when peace returned.”
