Evening Gathering: Reflections on Hope

Our contemplative evening service will consider which people, institutions and concepts give us hope and the strength to face life’s challenges. There will be an opportunity for you to share your reflections on the theme of ‘hope’.

Children’s Bring & Buy sale was a hit!
Thanks to Kristin, Holly and the children from our Children’s Chapel for holding a fantastic Bring & Buy sale last Sunday. They raised £162 for the Cold Weather Shelter and there were a lot of happy shoppers…

Living with Integrity’ discussion group meets on Monday 12th December at 7.00pm in the Chapel’s Committee Room (entrance to the rear of the Chapel) Facilitated by Rev Kate Dean, the theme this month is ‘Living with Loss’ with reflections by Chapel member Deborah Frankel.

Welcome Yule!
Decorating the Chapel for Christmas on Saturday 17th December 9.30am-1.00pm. Come and help the Flower Group to fill the Chapel with light and colour for Christmas and the Winter Festivals. Hot drinks and mince pies will be available. Contact Janna Williams: j.williams16@virginmedia.com

Open Chapel – 17th and 18th December
We will open the Chapel to visitors during the ‘Welcome Yule’ chapel decorating on 17th December 9.30 – 1.00pm. We will also keep the chapel open on Sunday 18th December 1.00pm – 4.00pm. If you would like to help greet visitors, please contact Kate:revkatedean@gmail.com

What we’re reading in the Chapel Book Group
Chapel Book Group will not meet in December. The next meeting will be on Monday 23rdJanuary at 7.00pm in the Chapel’s Committee Room (note new location, entrance to the rear of the Chapel) , when we will discuss ‘Romantic Outlaws’ by Charlotte Gordon, the story of proto-feminist and Unitarian Mary Wollstonecraft and her daughter author Mary Shelley. We are giving you early warning as this is quite a hefty book!

Pilgrimage: Journey of the Spirit
As the world appears to be on the move, we take inspiration from the Christmas story where one family journeyed to find shelter. Throughout the centuries, people of many religions have undertaken arduous pilgrimages as an act of faith. We will examine the journey of the spirit, whether it is a longed-for pilgrimage or enforced escape.

Our contemplative evening service will use various forms of meditation explore the theme of pilgrimage and journey.
